2017.08.27: Morning routine & Futuristic coffee

Dear Journal,

This morning I woke up and trudged downstairs for a cup of coffee to start my day off right. As I reached for the carafe I soon remembered that whatever was left in there, wasn’t fresh. I had to make a new pot. I exclaimed, “Uggh!” and prepared to prep the coffee.

3. Grabbed a single coffee filter

14. Placed the coffee filter in the grounds collector

15. Grabbed a tub of pre-ground coffee

16. Scooped out ~3 scoops of coffee and placed it in the coffee filter

17. Walked over to the refrigerator

18. Grabbed a gallon of water

19. Took the lid off the water

20. Poured 6 “cups” of water into the side of the machine

21. Closed the machine lid

22. Pressed ‘Brew’

1. I took out the carafe

2. Opened the lid

3. Poured out the old coffee

4. Put the lid back on

5. Put the carafe back into the machine

6. Opened the lid of the machine

7. Took out the grounds collector

8. Dumped the paper filter filled with old grounds

9. Placed the grounds collector back into the machine

10. Opened up a cabinet

12. Grabbed a box of coffee filters

Didn’t feel like drinking my coffee anymore!

All to make coffee in the morning. I’m too tired for that! Even after I pressed ‘Brew’ I still needed to put the coffee tub away, the filters away, and the water away. Then I waited for my coffee to be ready. How many minutes were wasted this morning? More than I’d like. After my coffee was ready, I was too sluggish and didn’t even feel like drinking my coffee anymore!

I’m home this weekend and yesterday I was lucky enough to wake up after my dad, who had already made the coffee!

Enter: Automation.

I want to be able to wake up, walk downstairs and have a fresh, hot cup of coffee specifically tailored to my likes already made.

Enter: ∇brüd.

We want to take back our wasted minutes...

We strive towards this. Trying to automate almost everything in the list above and make it even better than that! For Example, rather than using pre-ground coffee, we start the day off with freshly ground coffee (which is much better than packaged grounds). We want to take back our wasted minutes and put them towards something useful and enjoyable.

I can't wait for my perfect morning and perfect cup o' joe!

Cheers,

Christiana
