2017.09.13: Morning Routine - Take 2

Dear Journal,

Every morning during school, I wake up with just enough time to shower, make coffee, and walk/hurry to class.

I get out of bed after turning my 10 alarms off, mosey on into the kitchen, and begin to make my coffee.

9.) Pour water into french press

10.) Open drawer and get spoon

11.) Stir Water and coffee mixture until the coffee bloom appears

12.) Let the coffee sit and brew while I finish getting ready (+15min)

13.)Before heading out the door, Presses the coffee with the filter

14.) Pours coffee into mug

15.) Cleans french press after class

1.) Open the fridge and grab my Brita pitcher

2.) Pour water into the electric kettle

3.) Turn electric kettle on

4.) Wait approximately 4 minutes

While waiting for the water to boil,

5.) Open the cupboard and get the french press

6.) Open another cupboard and get the jar of coffee (that I ground a week before)

7.) Scoop 3 spoonfuls of coffee into the french press

8.) Wait a little longer for the water to heat up

This follows the same thoughts as my first journal entry on mourning routine. After making the coffee, I never feel like drinking it anymore or it takes me a while until I can. After I leave my apartment I hurry on over to class and never get a chance to take a sip until after I reach my destination, sit down, and pull my books out. I would much rather be able to wake up, get out of bed, walk to the kitchen, and have my coffee ready for me! That allows my morning to be much more relaxed.

Sure, some would say: “Well, you just need to wake up earlier!”. My response is, “I’m a college student, staying up late is pretty much a given and I plan to maximize the amount of sleep I get.” It’s all about maximizing time, not wasting it.

Cheers,

Christiana
